~ May 17th, 2010
Dear Parents and Campers,
This weekend we received word that Camp Rince Ceol has not been granted "Open Workshop" status by An Comisiun for 2010. The Rules Committee felt that the "aims and activities of the camp did not reflect the intended 'spirit' of open workshops".
As you know, Camp Rince Ceol has been providing a wonderful Irish dancing summer camp experience for the past 11 years. Our camp was founded on principles fostering our Irish culture and heritage. We have always paid careful attention to keep our workshops focused on dance basics; never teaching new material or altering material taught by campers' TCRGs. We have offered workshops in Irish music and Irish language, in addition to our dance workshops.
We take great pride in our program and have always followed the rules set forth by An Comisiun. We are working on an appeal and respectfully ask that you remain patient as we complete this process. We feel confident that An Comisiun will work with us to clarify any changes we need to make to bring this to a positive outcome. We will keep you informed of our progress via our website, www.irishdancecamp.com or ÑFriends of CRCÒ on Facebook.
As always, we wish to express our sincere gratitude to all of our camping families! We do what we do because of you. It brings us great joy and fulfillment to see the love of our Irish culture reflected so clearly in your eyes.
Thanks, again, for your patience while we complete the appeal process.
Sincerely,
Sheila and Tony
